Therapy Services

Let’s be honest, living in today’s world in a way that feels meaningful and genuine can be challenging. Whether it be worry about the state of the world, painful grief or the impacts of complex trauma, there are so many ways one can feel disconnected from their true selves. I am passionate about creating a safe space for clients to identify, process and work through the obstacles that keep them from living an intentional life and accepting themselves wholly.

Whether you are seeking support related to your trauma, relationships, grief, major life transitions, or the overwhelm of the world we live in, I believe strongly that you deserve the time and compassionate space to work through your deepest challenges and grow into the person you see as your genuine self.

Expertise

Grief and loss Experiencing grief is one of the hardest and most common challenges that people face over their lifetimes. Whether it be the loss of a close loved one or a relationship ending, the feelings of grief and loss can be painful and cause people to feel lost with how to move forward. Grief can also include aspects of loss and change such as grieving what life could have been, your childhood, loss of status, a change in your life trajectory, changing friendships or any form of accepting a new reality in your life.

Life Transitions Are you entering a new phase of your life and noticing some anxiety or depression? Sometimes major changes we make in life (even the ones we see as necessary or good) can bring up complicated feelings we did not expect as we adjust. Whether it be a change in life that we expected and planned or changes we were not as prepared for, sometimes people can find themselves feeling unsure of themselves, experiencing imposter syndrome, or dealing with aspects of past traumas in ways that feel uncomfortable. Taking the time to process life transitions, developing self regulation strategies and developing self care practices can help you meaningfully transition into the next phase of your life.

Complex Trauma Research shows that many of us have experienced some form of trauma in our lifetime. Some of us have gone through singular life altering experiences of trauma while others have had persistent recurrent stressors and instances of trauma over a period of time, otherwise known as complex trauma. Whether it be your first time wanting to better understand and cope with your lived experience with complex trauma or you are finding yourself wanting a therapeutic tune up around living with and transforming your trauma, therapy can be a great support in helping you develop a new relationship to your lived experiences.

Within these areas, I have found myself frequently working with the Latino community, first generation Americans, people with multi-ethnic identity, people with chronic illness and the LGBTQ community. I also have experience working with therapists and mental health practitioners who are looking for their own therapeutic support. I am always working on educating myself about cultural considerations and issues facing minority populations. I am always open to holding space about these matters and discussing how they may come into play in our therapy.

I use an integrative client centered approach to develop a tailored therapeutic space that works the best for each client’s unique circumstances and needs. I have worked extensively and have expertise in implementing trauma informed care to help treat trauma and help overcome the various ways it comes up in life. I believe deeply that understanding what has happened to you and the most impactful instances of your lifetime is key to understanding you in the present moment and how to work toward your therapeutic goals most effectively. Whether its trauma responses, depression, anxiety, low self worth, relationship issues, identity issues or self acceptance, I aim to support you in finding yourself on the path that feels most fulfilling for you.

Therapeutic Approaches

Some approaches I frequently use in my practice include expressive arts therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I also regularly bring in areas of evidenced based research through psychoeducation to help my clients better understand and humanize their mental and emotional experiences. As a client centered therapist I believe that each person is the expert when it comes to their own lived experience, therefore creating a collaborative and transparent therapeutic relationship is an important part of the work.
